Bach to Rock Music School in Marietta, Georgia, Opens on June 1, 2020

Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, proudly announces its newest school, in Marietta, Georgia, opens on June 1, 2020.  Families are invited to learn about Bach to Rock at the school’s open house on Saturday, June 6, 2020, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 1860 Sandy Plains Road, Suite 303, Marietta, Georgia, 30066. Guests are invited to drop by to explore the school and learn about summer camps, which start on June 8, individual and group classes in piano, voice, guitar, drums and more. The school will be adhering to social distancing and disinfection procedures while the open house is held.   The school will serve students from Sandy Plains, Marietta, Kennesaw, and East Cobb, and will offer both in-person and virtual lessons to meet parents’ needs. This location marks Bach to Rock’s third school in Georgia, and its forty-third in the country.

“Bach to Rock is known for providing an inspirational and creative learning environment.  During this really challenging time, we are continuing to help students whether through virtual classes, or a mix of virtual and in-person,” said President of Bach to Rock, Brian Gross. Additionally, on June 8, in-school summer music camps will be starting at the Marietta school, in small groups only, with social distancing, and frequent handwashing and sanitizing. “A lot of activities have been curtailed for thousands of children.  Bach to Rock summer camps are fun, exciting and can help build camaraderie and provide some normalcy this summer,” said Gross.

Bach to Rock Sandy Plains offers a variety of programs for students of all ages including: individual and group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drums and more; “Rock City” for preschoolers and “Rock n Roll” for toddlers; beginning piano “Kids n Keys” for children in grades K-2; and summer camps and birthday parties. Bach to Rock delivers a twist on traditional music lessons, offering something that’s akin to team sports with a spirit of creativity and fun to inspire students.

Meet New Bach to Rock Franchisee Mara Marerro

New Bach to Rock franchisee Mara Marerro is pleased to be opening her Bach to Rock school in her hometown.  Mara is an owner/operator and serves as the school’s director. She has more than 25 years of experience as an early childhood educator and has degrees in psychology and early childhood education. For the last 17 years, she has been the lead pre-K teacher at a local Montessori school.  “Opening a Bach to Rock school fulfills my entrepreneurial desire to start a business that provides a fun and creative educational environment for students.  And I felt it was important to help enrich and give back to our community,” said Mara.    With two teenage children, she understands parents’ concerns during this uncertain time. “We are adhering to all health and safety guidelines provided by state and federal agencies.  We want our students to be able to learn and have fun in a safe environment,” she continued.

Changing the Way Students Learn Music

Bach to Rock is reshaping music education on a national scale by turning solitary, boring music lessons into a group activity that is more like a team sport.  B2R focuses on providing a well-balanced music education because, ultimately, that is what parents are looking for. Students learn the intricacies of music — from theory to how to read music. Bach to Rock is the music school kids would have designed for themselves.  They get to jam with other kids right away and play current hits. The learning is the same, but the enjoyment factor is much higher.

Bach to Rock Music School Provides Social Connection to Thousands of Children through Virtual Music Lessons

Bach to Rock Music School Provides Social Connection to Thousands of Children through Virtual Music Lessons

Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, has transitioned all of its forty-two schools nationwide to remote music lessons. The coronavirus remains a public health crisis and Bach to Rock’s priority is the health, well-being and safety of its students, staff, and community. Currently, Bach to Rock has taught over 25,000 lessons online, connecting with over 5,000 students per week.

“It is our responsibility to protect our students and their families, our staff, and our communities during this incredibly challenging time. Virtual lessons are helping to maintain the learning, the camaraderie and the connections our students have with each other, and with their instructors,” said Brian Gross, President of Bach to Rock. “Remote lessons are an outlet for fun and creativity during a stressful situation and provide additional structure and familiarity for families and students,” continued Gross.

Over 300 families have shared positive feedback and have given high marks to their Bach to Rock schools about the transition. "Before he tried virtual band practice, my nine-year-old son insisted he didn't want to do it. After his first session, he said he LOVED it. We are totally committed now. Learning music is always more fun with friends! And in these times, virtual band practice is a quality way to spend time with his peers," Aiden's mom, Bach to Rock, McLean, Virginia.

“We appreciate all that everyone at Bach to Rock has done to continue to provide lessons in these crazy times. I think that the online lesson program is good for the students to have since everything else seems turned upside down right now,” Julian’s mom, Bach to Rock, Bethesda, Maryland.

“Taran’s lesson via Zoom was great. Thank you! Having a little connectivity to a ‘normal’ schedule was lovely. Thank you again for providing this service to your students,” Taran’s mom, Bach to Rock, Northbrook, Illinois.

Lessons are available to all students who have access to a device capable of video communication and an instrument with which to practice at their residence. Students are continuing voice lessons as well as their private lessons on all instruments. Bach to Rock continues its popular band lessons virtually, along with its “Rock City” music classes for preschoolers aged 3-5, and its “Kids n Keys” beginning piano classes for children aged 5-7 in grades K-2. Beat Refinery DJ lessons continue only at those schools which currently offer that option. Bach to Rock is also hosting customized events in response to parents’ requests, such as virtual birthday parties and Wednesday Workshops on special topics.

“Bach to Rock franchises have been greatly impacted by the lockdowns and owners swiftly adapted their schools to remote learning,” said Gross. “We know it’s critical to keep our communities connected and our relationships strong. Our franchisees are community leaders and we are proud of how they are responding to this crisis with such agility to meet families’ needs.”

Teachers are hosting lessons using Zoom, a free video conferencing service, integrated with the MyB2R portal, that is easily installed on an iPad, iPhone, or other mobile device and is compatible with both Windows and Mac. MyB2R provides the ability to track student advancement, schedule lessons, obtain homework and stream over 300 pre-recorded songs to practice at home.

Families receive all the same features and benefits of in-school lessons, including Bach to Rock’s proprietary curriculum, access to the MyB2R student tracking portal and the wealth of knowledge and experience instructors have to offer.

For more information about remote lessons, please contact your local Bach to Rock school

In a fierce competition at the 2019 Bach to Rock Battle of the Bands, 36 bands went head-to-head at City Winery in New York City on Sunday, June 9.

Over 800 proud parents, family members and fans came to support and cheer on students from Bach to Rock Port Washington, Bach to Rock Mamaroneck and Bach to Rock Nanuet.

The groups performed in both the Main Space and The Loft at City Winery and rocked the iconic hotspot.

“The students, who range in age from 7 to 18, and their band coaches worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this tremendous event and I’m beyond proud of all the performers,” said Bach to Rock Port Washington Director Elana Hayden. “While this is a competition, the main point is for the kids to have a great experience, to get to perform in a top New York City venue – and to have fun and feel like a rock star!”

Six seasoned music industry professionals, Carolee Goodgold (Carly Simon), John Miller (Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (Lady Gaga, Dr. John), Cameron Rasmussen (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway), Jason Reese (Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti) and Wayne Schuster (Blood, Sweat, and Tears) judged the performances.

Over 150 students performed on stages that have hosted Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, Joan Osborne, Taj Mahal, Patti Smith, and Buster Poindexter to name a few.

The bands were scored on several criteria including musical ability, technical ability, stage presence, material, creativity, and professionalism. All the competitors study a variety of musical disciplines at Bach to Rock music school, including music theory, instrument instruction, recording arts, performance arts, voice lessons and band coaching.

This is our student of the month: Indica! She has been playing piano for one year now! When she isn't playing music, she enjoys biking and disc golf. A fun fact about Indica is that her name means "night star princess protected by wolves". Her favorite thing about being a part of Bach to Rock is singing with her band Purple Nightmare, as well as playing piano with her mom who also takes lessons here. Congrats Indica!
